 Owl Crate January 2017 Review

Roseblood by A. G. Howard-

I’ve seen so much hype for this book on instagram and I admit I’m not excited about it. I never read the Splintered series by her because the friend who recommended them to me has very different taste than I do. I definitely will read it though, and post a review later.

Bookmark-

Oh my goodness! I love LexyOlivia’s bookmarks so much! I’ve received a few others in previous boxes and I absolutely adore them. This one is a quote from Slaughterhouse Five. I’m not a huge fan of that book, but the quote she picked was one that most readers can appreciate. “Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.” They are made of a thicker paper so they feel sturdier than most. The designs are always unique and original. I’m thinking I’ve gotta get the Sassenach bookmark and the Just one more chapter bookmark. If you want to see more check out her etsy shop.

Tea-

I don’t usually drink tea, unless I’m sick. I don’t drink black or green tea at all, so I’m never a big fan of getting tea in my crate’s. However, this one is a mint rose blend so I’m definitely going to try it next time I’ve got a cold. I’ll update this post when I try it, let you all know how it is! The tea was made by First Edition Tea Co.

Magnet-

The Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite musicals. I read the book in high school and actually really liked it. The magnet is pretty and not just the cover of a book, which is always fun. I put it on my fridge immediately and have gotten several compliments on it. Made by SweetSequels. They also have some baby’s guide to books which look super cute!

Soap-

I’m always hesitant with soap in boxes like this but ooh! It smells so yummy! They’re also vegan and shaped like a book, which is really cool. I’ve only used it to wash my hands a few times. It doesn’t lather much but it does the job and smells good! It was made by TeaSoapBooks.

Desk Calendar-

I’ve got a big white board calendar on my desk so I’m usually not in need of a desk calendar. However, the prints and the quotes on the calendar included in the OwlCrate are great. There’s a variety of books and authors. I particularly liked the Anne of Green Gables print for May, which is extra cool because May is also my birthday, so double win!  It was designed by Obvious State.

I also received a flier for Marissa Meyer’s new book Wires and Nerves. I met Marissa when she came to Utah on her book tour last year (2016). She signed my books and I got a poster. (Which was basically a huge version of the flier.) I am so excited to read this!! I’m hoping that Chris gets it for me for Valentine’s Day.

Overall a pretty good month. There was nothing in the box that I particularly LOVE besides the bookmark. A bit of an off month for OwlCrate, but next month the theme is Run away with the Circus so it should be really good! Bets are the book is going to be Caraval by Stephanie Garber and I really hope that’s the case, because it looks really good!
