I’ve been an Owlcrate subscriber for about six months now and this box was my favorite that they’ve done (so far). The theme for this month is Run Away with the Circus, and while I’m not a huge circus fan, the idea was unique and definitely had lots of appeal. Especially when they specified no clowns. Because ew, clowns…

An in depth review of February 2017 OwlCrate Box Run Away with the Circus

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval is a book that I’ve been looking forward to for months! When OwlCrate announced that the theme for February was Run Away with the Circus I just knew they must have picked Caraval. I’m in the middle of The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon, but Caraval is definitely up there on my to read list. I still haven’t even started Roseblood, which was last months…. I will probably get to Caraval before I get to that one…. Anyway, I’ll post a review as soon as I can!

Candle

This box came with a candle from Frostbeard Studio. It’s called Le Cirque des Rêves from the book The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. (Which I also grabbed from the library the day I got this box…) It smells so yummy! It’s labeled as being a blend of Caramel Popcorn, Roasted Chestnuts, and Bonfire. The idea of a candle smelling like a bonfire seemed a bit odd, but it smells so good! The scents that stand out are the popcorn and chestnuts.

Lip Balm

I’ve been needing new lip balm for a while now, so getting it was perfect timing. It’s made by Geek Fire Labs. It tastes like donuts or almost churo’s. I love it so much. It goes on smooth and isn’t greasy or oily. I checked out their website and I’m thinking I need to get their Princess Leia lip balm that is flavored like a cinnamon roll. It sounds so good!

Notepad

This notepad is so dang cute! Mine has a jack of clubs and a ten of clubs as the covers. It’s small enough to comfortably fit in a bag or purse, and it’s unlined, which I love! This notebook is perfect for doodling or jotting down quick ideas. The notebook is made by Attic Journals and oh my gosh! I went on their site and I LOVE them! I need to order me some journals because they’re just so cool! They up-cycle vintage books, so you can get journals with covers made from Nancy Drew books, Old non-fiction books, and kids books. Even if you don’t need a new journal, check it out. They’re so cool!

Page Flags

So, I never ever write in my books. In college one professor made me and while I was okay with it (because he was my favorite professor and I already owned another copy of the book) I never can quite make myself underline quotes or write notes, even if I want to remember later. So these page flags are fantastic! They’re so cute and circus themed, of course. My favorite is the food one, because hello? yum! It came with 375 flags, so that ought to last me at least a little while. They’re made by Girl Of All Work and I just might have to get her Pride and Prejudice page flags, because they are adorable!

And now, my favorite thing in the entire box!

Tote Bag

The tote bag based on The Night Circus is so beautiful! It came in black or red, but I’m glad I got the black one. Just cuz it’s purty. It’s really big too, which is great, because I can fit so many books in it. I made it my new library bag. I used to use a Pride and Prejudice tote bag that I got at the Library of Congress, but it just doesn’t fit everything. Plus, this one is so bright and gorgeous!! It was made by Evie Bookish.

Overall

Wow, what a great box this month! I am absolutely in love with everything in it. Check out my instagram for more individual pictures of the items over the next couple days. Next month the theme is Sailors, Ships, and Seas! There is a book coming out soon that I have a sneaking suspicion is the one they’re going to send. I really hope it is, because I’ve been so excited for it! If you like this box, you can see more of their previous ones here.
