I’m a huge modern whovian. I’ve watched a bit of the classic and I will finish it eventually. I just struggle with finding a consistent place to watch it. Plus, it’s always competing with other shows and never seems to win… Anyway, I found this fun Doctor Who book tag and figured it was a good time to share it, since the new season starts in two weeks!! *Fangirl Squeal!* I found this on Becoming Bookish so if you want to use it, please give credit to them. I will leave a blank list of the prompts at the bottom of this post for anyone who wants to do it too!

Doctor Who Book Tag!

1. The Classics – A classic Book that still fits into YA literature

Ahh classic Doctor Who! I know, I know, I’ll get there one day. Meanwhile, a classic YA book favorite of mine is A Little Princess By Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was the book that made me fall in love with reading and this was even the edition that I owned as a kid. (I might still have it, I’ll have to go look now.) Anyway, it’s an adorable story, maybe more middle grade than YA but I’m counting it. 😉

The book from my childhood that helped me fall in love with reading.

2. The Ninth Doctor – A book you feel is very underrated

I have a huge appreciation for Christopher Eccleston. There’s a lot of drama involving him and Doctor Who, but I love the first season. I totally ship him and Rose! But anyway, an underrated book. Tons of people know Julie Kagawa for her Iron Fey series, which I honestly had trouble getting into. (I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I have yet to find a book or series that I love with fey as the main characters. Sorry!) But I fell in love with Julie Kagawa because of her Blood of Eden series! I also really like the original cover, if you buy it now, the cover is different. Read it because she’s a badass and there’s some super cute romance! I have no idea why this series didn’t get more love…

An underrated book that deserves more credit.

3. David Tennant – A book or series that was hard to say goodbye to when it ended.

Be still my fangirl heart… UGH! I love David Tennant’s run in Doctor Who! Some of the best episodes and companions! (IMO) I’m going to take a bit of creative license with this one and go with a book that I reread because I can’t let it go, haha! Just like I rewatch his episodes all the time… So, a book I couldn’t say goodbye to/love to reread is Cress by Marissa Meyer! It’s my favorite in the series with my favorite ship! So cute!! And that series is one I’ll never be able to completely say goodbye to.

A book I couldn't let go of.

4. Matt Smith – A Book that made you smile

I never fell for Matt Smith like I did David Tennant, but he’s still such a fun doctor! He has some amazing episodes and companions! I think one of the best things about 11 is his ability to make people smile. He was a good break away from David Tennant who was so dark towards the end of his run. Matt was a much needed ‘fun’ doctor. (Not to say he didn’t have his dark moments, cuz damn…) I’m going with Tiger’s Curse because it’s so light and fluffy, but some dark undertones. It’s not a very deep book but I loved reading it because it made me smile from all the cute things. The whole series is that way too.

A Book that makes me smile.

5. Rose & Ten – One of your ships that never sailed

And here comes the tears. I always cry when watching their episodes towards the end. Rose is my favorite companion and I will forever be sad about how things ended. But at least it wasn’t like Donna. But it’s okay, I get by with a little help from fan fiction, tehehe. I’m going second Becoming Bookish and say Luna and Neville. If I didn’t love Harry and Ginny so much together, I’d ship Harry and Luna. But now there’s the whole Hermione should’ve ended up with Harry and not Ron! Ahh JK why do you do this to us??

6. Weeping Angel – A book that you blinked and it was over

So this book is one of my favorites. Even though it’s pretty substantial, I flew through it! Grave Mercy is a historical YA. It has mythical elements which is always good. It’s just so fantastic! The rest of the series is really good too!

A book that I flew through!

7. Daleks – A book you want to exterminate

Daleks are one of my favorite Doctor Who villains. in fact, I’m currently drinking out of a cup with a Dalek on it. But I hate saying this about any book. Authors put a lot of time, talent, emotion, and love into their books. So saying there’s a book I didn’t wish existed is super harsh. So I’m just saying this is a book I wish I hadn’t read. Other people read and loved it, but it’s just not my cup of tea. (If you loved it, I’m sorry!) We Were Liars is written in a writing style that I couldn’t get into. It was also just really frustrating. Plus, I hate all the characters. If you liked it, again, sorry… It just wasn’t for me.

A book I really didn't like...

8. Bowties are Cool! – A bandwagon you jumped on early

Rainbow Rowell was an author I discovered ‘before it was cool’. So hipster, I’m sorry. But seriously, before the hype got real I’d read most of her books including the ones she wrote for adults! But I read Fangirl as soon as it came out and was so in love! I recommend all her books, but this one in particular is amazing!

A must read for any self-named fangirl.

9. Run you clever boy, and remember…. – A book with an awesome plot twist that you didn’t see coming

So I’m taking some liberty on this one as well. This book is one with tons of plot twists that I didn’t see coming. But they weren’t necessary or even understandable. I didn’t like Caraval so this is not a recommendation unless you’re a fan of Alice in Wonderland retellings. So run you clever boy, away from this book. Or not, if you like it, tell me why in the comments!

So overhyped....

10. Raxacoricofallapatorius – A Book with hard to pronounce names or titles

I’m going with Outlander on this one because of how long it took me to get used to the accents. They’re very well written but it took me way too long to get what everything meant. It’s a very mature read (heads up!) so not recommended for young or sensitive readers. But once I got about a third of the way in, I was golden.

Book that has hard to pronounce names or titles

11. The T.A.R.D.I.S. – A book that took you back in time

I’m going back to another book by Rainbow Rowell on this one. I loved Landline because it took you back in time in a very unconventional way. The main character is having marital problems. She’s crazy busy with work and her husband and family are feeling neglected, but she’s about to have the biggest break of her career. She goes to stay with her mum for a bit after her hubby takes the kids to his parents for the holidays. It turns out the landline in her room is connected to the past. When she was dating her husband. I won’t spoil it, but it’s such a cute love story! Short (ish) and sweet!

A book that takes you back in time.
