Hi, I’m Kareena!

I started this blog originally as a way to share bookish content. What started as mostly reviews quickly became repetitive. I wanted to share content that was unique and book reviews were not that. While in grad school, I put it on pause. After graduation, moving and Covid made finding a job in a library incredibly challenging, which revitalized my interest in blogging. This time, from a new perspective.

Fandoms:

Books I love: The Lunar Chronicles, The Selection, Starbound, The Illuminae Files, Fire and Thorns, The Immortal Rules, His Fair Assassin, and the All Souls Trilogy. Check out my Goodreads page for more.

Shows/Fandoms: Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Downton Abbey, Friends, NCIS, Parks and Rec, and more!

11 Random Facts About Me

1. I didn’t read Harry Potter until I was eighteen.
2. The first fandom I got into was Star Trek. My dad loves the movies and so as a kid we would watch them together.
3. I have an English degree with a minor in creative writing and an MLIS from SJSU.
4. I love subscription boxes! I’ve done bookish, makeup, and more. My current favorite sends me two succulents every month.
5. The book that got me to fall in love with reading is A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Looking back, I know it has some problematic elements, especially imperialism/colonialism. But like Harry Potter, I do appreciate what it did for me at the time.
6. I have two kitties named after some of my favorite performers.
7. I recently moved to California after living in Utah my whole life.
8. I know how to give a foot zone, but I’m not certified. Feet don’t really gross me out unless they’re not taken care of.
9. The first manga I ever read was Fruits Basket. I read it religiously and babysat to earn money to buy it. I own the whole series from the original printing, as well as the special editions copies that were recently released. I’m hoping that they release hardcover versions like Fullmetal Alchemist.
10. I like baking a lot more than cooking.
11. My favorite clothing stores are Hot Topic and Box Lunch. I love that they have nerdy clothing for adults.
